I was reluctant to try the heavily talked about coconut oil hair mask. My nerves went rapid when all I could think of was this formula: oil + hair= oily hair.
I decided to try out a less oilier alternative and searched the beloved Pinterest. I came across a recipe to help tame frizz.
It consisted of…
1/2 avocado
1 egg
1 banana
1 TBSP coconut oil
Blend this all together and plop it on your hair. I left it on for about 30 min. I hopped into the shower, rinsed, lathered, rinsed.
I was pretty excited to see how my hair turned out. As I was brushing it out I kept discovering chucks of banana! It was so gross!! There was so much and with wet hair was next to impossible to get out. I had to let it dry to pick it out. It lasted about 2 days and finally the banana goop was gone.
My hair felt dry and dull. At this point I didn’t even care if my hair went greasy I just wanted it to feel better.
A week later I finally decided to dive into coconut oil, straight up oil and absolutely no bananas!
I decided to leave about 2 inches of hair close to my scalp out for safe measure. I plopped on the coconut oil and hoped for the best. I researched online and found that in order not to have your hair a greaseball, put shampoo in it BEFORE wetting it. So about an hour in it was time for a shower. I shampooed, wet, lathered and rinsed. I decided to shampoo 2x to be safe. My hair felt as if I just put conditioner in it. I didn’t want to get my hopes up but so I didn’t think too much of it. I brushed it out and it felt so silky. I let it air dry and although it was still frizzy it felt Ah-mazing!
I flat ironed it and it was so lively and soft. I was in love ❤
I decided to film my second attempt and came up with this video. You can really see how my hair looks at the conclusion if the video.
I urge you all to try it!
